The adult choir serves in two forms: as a Liturgical Choir (choir that sings at mass) and a Concert Choir. You can be in both if you would like but if you do not have time to sing every week, please still consider being a part of the Concert Choir. Wednesday night rehearsals, which will begin at 7:30 pm, will be used to practice for both Sunday liturgies as well as the Christmas concert.
Being a part of the choir does not require any experience in music, just a love of singing. When conducting choir rehearsals I will teach you more than just the words and notes; you will learn about music terminology and how to read music through simple means. You get to experience the joy of singing with an education in music along the way.
The choir will sing through Pentecost. If you would like to join us, please stop by on a Wednesday evening. We're happy to have you!
The Resurrection Choir is an important body of singers who lead worship during funerals that take place at St. Kieran. The singers in this group provide a great shoulder of support to grieving families and show that the parish is here for them by singing at the resurrection masses. In addition to the tradtional hymnody, the choir also learns more challenging pieces of music to sing at funeral liturgies. The Resurrection Choir may also sing for special masses and Holy days.
The choir rehearses on Tuesdays from 11:45 – 12:30.
Kaleidoscope, St. Kieran's children's choir, is open to children in grades 2 – 6 and rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:15 – 6:00. This choir teaches children simple liturgical music to sing together at mass along with elementary choral techniques. Kaleidoscope sings at mass approximately once each month from October through Easter.
This is a great way to introduce your child to music in the church!
Kaleidoscope is not in season but will resume in September 2013. Please check back then for more information.
“Rise Up”is a new vocal music ensemble for teens in 7th–12th grades. The group will focus on general choral techniques while engaging the teens with energetic music enhancing the skills they were taught in Kaleidoscope. Rise Up will focus on choral repertoire with harmony and music technique. The singers will receive opportunities for solos and leadership as a psalmist and will also take an active role in making music selections for the liturgies shaping the style that they sing. Rise Up will sing at Mass approximately once a month and will only go through January 2014.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday from 6:15 - 7:00 beginning on September 18, 2013
